Corporate Wellness Programs
Motivated, fit and well-nourished staff = MAX PRODUCTIVITY
From Leona Watson, Director, Cheeky Food Group:
“We all know the fantastic benefits of corporate health. It’s been well researched and documented. So why does it tend to have blips of activity then lose momentum?
Personally I think the programs don’t include enough FUN. I truly believe that to engage adults in any form of habit change (including the work environment), you need a goal that’s motivating enough to the individual and the team, AND to make the process of achieving that goal both fun and engaging.
Having said that, Cheeky Food Group are NOT Corporate Wellness experts. Nor are we trained dieticians. Where we do excel, is as a group of inspiring chefs and educators who know how to make cooking for yourself, family and friends, fun, easy and exciting. Apart from a few naughty desserts, nearly every dish is 100% healthy and damn delicious!!! And easy to repeat when everyone gets home.

Learning new skills to use again and again |
I often get approached in the Qantas Club by excited people rattling off a menu they did with us two years prior!! Some recipes have become their “signature dish” at every family gathering…and most of them hardly cooked before. I’ve even received letters from people 4 years after their team cooking event, to request a tip on a dish….plus a few last minute ‘now just remind me….” calls on Christmas Eve when people recreate an entire Cheeky menu as opposed to the traditional roast! That’s what inspires us!
So please, let’s talk about incorporating fun and healthy shopping, planning and cooking events as part of your corporate wellness programs, then devise ways to continue the excitement and engagement long after any cooking class. One-off events are fine…..but a 3, 6 or 12 month program will really drive the momentum – and most importantly, benefits for the business.
About 25,000 individuals from corporates across Australia have cooked with us over the last 6 years. And remember, these are people who haven’t chosen to attend a cooking class – their boss or PA has, as part of a team building exercise, so we fully understand the need to get people excited and inspired.
We absolutely love sharing our passion for cooking and great food!
We’re constantly amazed at how little people know about ingredients and basic cooking skills. Like how to whiz up a quick and healthy stir fry. How to roast without cups of oil. Great BBQ skills beyond ‘suspicious’ sausages and expensive steak. How to throw together a salad that’s more than lettuce and tomato. And most importantly how to chop!! We teach every person knife skills, which instantly makes them feel like a Jamie or Nigella. It’s all about instilling confidence and a sense of fun.

Gorgeous, light and lovely Quinoa Salad |
We all know that too many people eat out or get take-away, often because they’re not organised, time strapped and lack basic cooking knowledge. This is where we come in, especially for senior executives you need to have fired up - mentally, physically, and yes, emotionally. If people eat heavy restaurant/take out food, their thinking will be ‘heavy’, no matter how much they exercise.
So please, let’s talk about how we can enhance your current program, or help you create a new one, that’s FUN, memorable and destined to be part of your corporate culture. Cheers!”
